I've been teaching a bit this week. It's also been very cold (for Sydney), so getting dressed in the morning has presented some challenges.
A couple of months back I bought this dress. This 's a horrible picture because a) the dress doesn't fit the model as she is too skinny and has no boobs; and b) the shoes and socks are awful. Anyway, I love the dress - it fits me perfectly, has a fab square neck and is a very fine wool fabric.
So I wore it to school on Tuesday, with tights, heels, etc. "I feel like a proper teacher in this dress", I said to Spouse. "You look like a nun", was his response.
Hmmm.

Ah, out of the mouths of loved ones.
I once asked My Fella if he thought a pair of trousers made my bum look big. Without thinking, he replied, "But Rubi, your bum IS big." Couldn't argue with the facts.
BTW, I've been meaning to say that I like your blog's new "handle."
Is he an ex Fella? I think sometimes it pays NOT to ask them about clothes at all! And thank you re the name change ...
A very long-ago Fella, in fact -- a biologist, with not an ounce of diplomatic discretion on him. (This is what happens when one dates scientists, or engineers, I'm afraid.) Boy was he cute, though.
I once had a mathematician friend who was similarly lacking in diplomacy ...
Oh, I love this dress. . . love it! Rather than nun-like, I'd say it has that "sexy librarian" thing going on, very sophisticated.
echoing Rubi on the new name, altho' it puzzled me at first when it showed up. And what else has changed -- background colour? I like the overall effect, and that "musings and peregrinations"
Thanks, mater - no other changes except the name. And I'm going to tell Spouse it's my sexy librarian look and see if that gets a different response :)
I'd say it has the "sexy librarian" thing going on too and suspect that is what my spouse would say, were I to wear something similar. But then he has always had a thing for "sexy librarian".
I like the new name too, but I had to come back and look at it 'cause at first I wondered if I had fallen into the wrong place. And "musings and peregrinations" is just wonderful.
(and I can't believe they would show that dress on that model...would anyone buy it based on that photo?)
Thanks, Mardel. And I totally agree about the styling of the dress - I only saw the picture after I'd already tried it on, but I certainly wouldn't have gone looking for it if that had been my introduction!
